Athletes in Broadland looking to set new goals for the new year could be helped by a grant from the district council.

The Broadland Sports Champions Grant supports those competing at a minimum of regional level, with up to £125 available per person on a one-off basis. A select number of applicants could also receive support up to the value of £1,000.

Successful applicants will get information on other funding, initiatives and courses available to them, as part of Broadland District Council's commitment to its sports champions and ambition to increase levels of health and wellbeing in the area.

The fund is now open for 2015/2016, with a closing date of January 31, 2016.

To be eligible, athletes must live in Broadland and be participating in a sport recognised by Sport England. There is no age limit for applicants.
Cllr Claudette Bannock, Broadland District Council's Member Champion for Sport, said: "Training and competing at a high standard takes time, money and commitment. "Broadland's Sports Champion Grants recognises this and is offering support towards some of these costs for a number of talented athletes we have in our district."

All applications must be made on official forms and submitted by post or email, along with a supporting statement from a qualified coach. Forms and full terms and conditions are available here.

For more information, call Broadland District Council's Sports Development Officer on 01603 430570 or email them.

The Broadland Sports Champions Grant fund has limited resources and funding is subject to availability.
