Every year, Evander employees have the chance to nominate a charity which will receive donations from all fundraising efforts over the next year. The charity of the year is chosen from a shortlist, and is voted on by Evander employees based right across the UK. The East Anglia Children’s Hospice (EACH) was among many put up for consideration and won the most votes, thus becoming their charity of the year 2016/17.

EACH is an extremely important local charity, based in Norfolk, Suffolk, Cambridgeshire and Essex, providing care for children and young people with life-threatening conditions. They also provide support to family members, with care available in one of their three hospices, at hospital, in the community or even in the family home.

Evander says a fond farewell to the Children’s Cancer and Leukaemia Group (CCLG), who were their charity of the year for 2015/16. Through a variety of fundraising events, including a regular dress-down Friday in their head office at Lakeside 300 on Broadland Business Park, they raised £5,373.93. This will go towards CCLG’s fantastic efforts in care for young people with cancer, funding research and helping affected children in the developing world.

As well as the nominal £1 donated by all employees participating in dress-down Friday, Evander also raises money through bake sales, raffles and seasonal events. All employees are also able to round their monthly wage down to the nearest pound, with a minimum of 1p to a maximum of 99p donated by each participant each month.

Evander is looking forward to raising money for East Anglia Children’s Hospice over the year to come, and hope to beat last year’s efforts in the amount raised.
